Oldie but Goodie

Steven Burrows is one of the foremost African American designers who began his career in the shadow of Andy Wharhol and Studio 54. As one of the first African American designers to be recognized and to work with the renowned fashion machine, Henri Bendel, he has dressed such celebrities as Taylor Swift and Mick Jagger. His fun, beautiful, versatile and rather wearable designs seemingly waft down the runway, like airborne petals in a fall afternoon. I admire the craftsmanship, the clear perspective and the balance of casual and elegant. As I wandered through his website and spring 2010 collection, I was pleased to find such feminine and carefully constructed pieces. His work reflects great attention to detail, beauty, spunk and little bit of disco love all wrapped into one.
