Isabel Marant has mastered easy elegance. Her clothing seemingly hangs lifeless from the hangers, waiting to be awakened by the human form. What stands out most, beyond the dynamic design, is that the clothes transform themselves once they reach the body. I appreciate the design aesthetic in the spring/summer 2010 line. Each piece is beautifully layered, not just with tiers of material but also with color, texture and subtlety. I love the whimsy of the clothing as well, which, despite the price tag, makes them very appealing to women of all shapes and sizes. Her choice of fabric, architectural approach and brilliant use of texture are evidence that this French-born, rock star-bohemian inspired designer is here to stay. New York City welcomes you!
